Here’s a list of my favourite great music quotes that teach you some valuable lessons, and they are awesome inspiration!
Creativity and intelligence are not separate things! The best thinkers are those who constantly ask themselves, “what if?”
If everyone never tried anything new, then nothing new would be discovered, tested or pioneered!
Make the most out of your life by making plans and reaching your goals, as we only have a finite amount of time to complete them!
Always keep your goals in sight, otherwise, they would never be realised. A similar quote relating to this is by Naval Ravikant – “Desire is a contract that you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want.” Unhappiness and a strong desire to realise a better life is a powerful motivator, but it can take a toll on your mental health, so be cautious and strong!
You’ve got to fail to succeed, just learn from mistakes and move forward!
In the music industry, you are the product. Don’t become a commodity by being like another person. Be a unique product by being yourself, something no one else will ever be able to replicate!
Like the quote above, be different, unique, interesting and exciting!
Classic showmanship from Bowie, who always seemed to be reinventing himself or going in a different musical direction. Very exciting!
A way of making something good out of a bad situation is to write a song. Authentic music based on real-life experiences definitely makes for more interesting, provoking and emotional music.
Buying the best equipment is not going to make you a better player. Practising does!
Anyone can be famous…if they want to be! Think I might employ this tactic in selling my books. Strap a few books on and go for a naked jog down the street? Maybe there’s other ways!
There are several motivators to learning an instrument, such as becoming a star, earning a living, increased sex or whatever. You have to do more to achieve these things, as otherwise, they can seem pretty unrelated! Besides, the best thing about learning an instrument is that you have a tool to make music.
Act like a big dog to be a big dog!
This is just fantastic songwriting advice, and it was the advice given to George Harrison that allowed him to finally crack the art of songwriting (I’m very glad he did, as he wrote some bangers) Have you ever tried writing something only to give up halfway through and then attempt to pick up where you left off?
Be genuine and have something to say. Create unique, authentic and honest music!
The rhythm section is the driving force for the whole band and provides the foundation for the guitar, keys, horns and vocalists. The whole point of music is to make the listener feel something, if that response is to groove, then great, most tunes are better when they make people move!
Awareness trumps complicated or technically difficult lines, coming from the technical bass maestro himself.
This quote perfectly defines what music is in a short snappy statement. So if you want to be a master of the arts or music, you need to have a really great understanding of emotion.
I turn confused bass enthusiasts into bass gods through a simple and logical process.
